Earl T. Ricks (July 9, 1908 – January 4, 1954) was the acting Chief of the National Guard Bureau from 16 Feb 1953 to 21 June 1953 was Chief of the Air Force Division, National Guard Bureau, in Washington DC from Oct 13, 1950 - 4 Jan 1954[2] and Mayor of Hot Springs Arkansas from (1947 - 1949)[1][3] [2]

This was a annual cross country timed jet race from Los Angeles to New York to exceed the record set in January 2, 1954 by Colonel Willard W. Millikan, the Commander of the 113th Fighter Interceptor Wing. Who set teh record at 4 hour, 8 minutes, and five seconds in a F-86F.[4]
